The Town of Culver Small Business Utility Debt Relief program is accepting applications starting today, May 6.  The program allows for forgiveness of the total water and sewer utility charges with the Town of Culver for invoice due dates of March 15, April 15, and May 15, 2020, up to a total of $1,500.

The debt forgiveness program is limited to businesses with a physical location in Culver, 50 or fewer employees, and is not open to franchises.  It will follow the same basic scoring guidelines as the small business grant program launched a few weeks ago, focusing on relief for small businesses particularly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic such as retail stores, dine in restaurants, salons and personal care facilities, etc.  Business sectors that are unlikely to be awarded utility debt relief through the program include but are not limited to grocery stores, gas stations, professional and health care offices, temporary online rentals, apartments, construction, and marinas.

Applications will be accepted through June 1 and will be presented for debt forgiveness at the June 9 town council meeting.  The maximum award per business location will be the total utility invoice amounts for March, April and May 2020 due dates, or a total of $1,500, whichever is less.

If you have questions about the program, please email Jonathan Leist at .  Completed applications can emailed to the same address or dropped off in the utility payment drop box in the policy lobby of town hall, 200 E Washington Street.
